1972-4917r R~,SOLUTIOi~T NO. 4917 Ri~SOLUTIO~~i ~:EOUESTING FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR PEDESTi?IA~T BRIDCaE OVER IilGr~i~TA~' 30 WrIL~.REAS, the construction of Highway 36 effectively st~parated and isolated the residential neighborhood to the East of t'_~is highway from Taft Park located in a c;eneral area along INighvvay 36 and t;brth of 63rd Street and, vV.-tIEREAS, t'_ne city has determined to develop `iaft Park into a major Lolayfiel.d and recreational area v+rith construction to occur i.n 1973. anal, ~~THEREAS neighborhoods designed to be served by this facility is that ne:Cghborn.ood East of Highway 36 and V~THEREAS the city has :indicated a willingness to participate in tha cost of such a bridge in the event that it is finally constructed, NO~,/V THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield that the State Highv`ray Department be requested to conduct a feasibility study of the construction of such a pedestrian overpass and to repa~~t the results of .such a study to the City Council, BE TT FURTI-IER RESOLVED that the -City i'•rTanager is directed to send a copy of this resolution to the. Commissioner of Highways with the raquest that such a study be cond~zcted as quickly as possible so that "there can b~ consideration of the construction of such an overpass at an early date.
