RESOLUTION No. 4897
RESOLUTION OPPOSING ANY PROPOSED_LEGISLATION TO IMPOSE
COUNTY JURISDICTION OR DIRECT SUPERVISORY DUTIES UPON
THE CITY ASSESSOR`S OFFICE
WHEREAS, heretofore the City Assessor of the City of Richfield has complete
jurisdiction, without mandatory supervisory influence from the County Assessor,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richfield feels that its City Asses-
sing Division should retain the same authority and responsibility as provided for
County Assessors, and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Richfield supports the present laws
which govern City Assessors on the same basis as County Assessors by the Com-
missioner of Taxation in all communications, hearings and State Board of Equali-
sation conferences, under the provisions of Laws of 1969, Chapter 989, Section 1 ,
Paragraph 2 (M SA 273.052) ,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Richfield
opposes any proposed legislation that will impose County Assessor jurisdiction or
direct supervisory duties upon the City Assessor's Office and further reduce local
control and jurisdiction in such matters .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of. this resolution be transmitted to
members of the Hennepin County Board and to state legislators representing the City
of Richfield o
