REQUEST TO RESURFACE 66TH STREET FOR SOUND ABATEMENT PURPOSES
WHEREAS, 66th Street between Penn Avenue and Cedar Avenue, within the City
of Richfield, is a public roadway under the jurisdiction of Hennepin County, and
WHEREAS, this portion of 66th Street is completely maintained by Hennepin
County, and
WHEREAS, this portion of 66th Street has experienced a steadily increasing
volume of motor vehicle traffic within the past few years, and
WHEREAS, as a direct result of this increased traffic volume the noise level has
increased to a nearly intolerable level, and.
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has successfully reduced the noise level caused by
motor vehicle traffic on CSAH 62 by the application of a bituminous mat surface.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield
that Hennepin County be requested to apply a bituminous surface to that portion of
66th Street between Penn Avenue and Cedar Avenue in order to reduce the noise level
caused by the steadily increasing volume of traffic,
