RESOLUTION NO. 4561
IN SUPPORT OF HOUSE FILE NO. 1119
RELATING TO AID FOR POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION
WI~EREAS. ~k~e City Council of the City of Richfield is the official governing
body of the City of Richfield; and
WHEREAS the City Council has reviewed a bill designated as House File
No. 1119 relating to financial aid .for Police Relief Associations, and
WHEREAS it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Richfield that
' enactment of such a bill could have the effect of providing property tax relief
inasmuch as the financial requirements of the Police Pension Fund are substantial
on the property tax and will continue to increase at a rapid rate, as required by
legislation adopted by the last session of the State Legislature, and
WHEREAS the City Council is of the opinion that the adoption of House File
No. 1119 and the companion bill in the Senate (S.F. No. 811) would be in the
best interests of the citizens of Richfield if used to reduce the City's annual
contribution to the fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield,
Minnesota that the City Council supports the enactment of House File No. 1119 and
Senate File No. 81I provided that the aid is used to reduce the City's annual con-
tribution to the police pension fund.
BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield that the

City Manager is hereby directed to forward copies of the resolution to the Honorable
William Kirchner, the Honorable Ernest Lindstrom, the Honorable James Swanson,

representatives to the legislature from Richfield, and to request their support
of this proposed legislation. Passed by the Richfield City Council May 10,
1971.
