1971-4501r'~ RESOLUTION No. 4501 RESOLUTION RELATING TO METROPOLITAN SPORTS AREA FACILITIES WHEREAS, .the Cities of Bloomington, Minneapolis and Richfield are the joint owners of the. Metropolitan Sports Area under an agreement known as the Ownership and Operations ..Agreement, and WHEREAS, it appears that there is a need to improve the existing facilities located at the Metropolitan Sports Area, or to construct additional facilities, or both, in order to serve the needs of existing and future users of such facilities, and WHEREAS, it appears that there is a need to arrive at a decision on any im- provemeni~ of or additions to the existing facilities at the earliest possible date; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota, as follows: 1. This Council herewith expresses its willingness to cooperate with the Cities of Bloomington and Minneapolis in developing a joint course of action, as promptly as possible, to expand existing facilities or build additional facilities, or both, at the Metropolitan Sports Area in order to provide adequate accommodations for the users of such facilities, Further, this Council herewith expresses its willingness to consider a pro rata basis for supporting bonds issued for the purpose of providing such facilities and to support legislation, if any, determined to be necessary to provide such accommodations. 2. This Council urges the Councils of the City of Minneapolis and the City of Bloomington to take action, together with the City of Richfield, to develop a joint course of action on this matter at the earliest possible date. 3. Let copies of this resolution be sent to the City Councils of Minneapolis and Bloomington, the Metropolitan Sports Area Commission, the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota North Stars.
