RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIC~1fTELD, MINNESOTA
TO COMPLY WITH PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER-590, MINNESOTA FLOOD PLAIN
MANAGEMENT ACT WHICW ESTABLISHES-THE POLICY-AND PURPOSE OF THE
STATE OF MINNESOTA TO GUIDE DEVELOPMENT OF-THE FLOOD PLATNS OF THE
STATE AND TO PRESERVE THE CAPACITY OF THE FLOOD PLAIN TO CARRY
REGIONAL FLOODS, MINIMIZE HAZARDS, AND REGULATE THE USE OF FLOOD
PLAIN LANDS.
WHEREAS, .the 1969 Minnesota Legislature has enacted as Chapter 590 a
comprehensive Flood Plain Management Act cited as the Minnesota Flood Plain
Management Act; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota-Flood Plain Management Act as enacted establishes
the policy and purpose of .the State of Minnesota to guide development of the
Flood Plains of the State and to preserve-the capacity of the Flood Plain
to carry regional floods, minimize flood hazards, and regulate the use of
Flood lands; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Flood Plain Management requires that local
government units complete and submit a letter of intent to comply with the
provisions of this act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICHFIELD:
1. That-the City Manager be authorized to develop and submit a
letter of intent committing the City of Richfield to comply
with the provisions of Chapter 590, Minnesota Flood Plain
Management Act.
2. That any and all Flood Plain Management ordinance which the
City of Richfield shall have an opportunity to develop and
execute-shall be submitted to the Commissioner of Conservation
State of Minnesota for review-and appropriate action.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Richfield this 25th day
of-May, 1970.
