RESOLUTIOl\T OF IlVTE1~TT REGARDING 1970 COMPEI~TSATI~LT
AGREEMENT FOR MEMEERS OF LOCAL 49 RICHFIELD EMPLOYEES
~THEREAS, the Metropolitan Area Management Association, representing
approximately 30 suburban communities in the Twin City metropolitan area, has
through its negotiating committee conducted discussions on 1970 wages and fringe
benefits with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 , and
IEREAS, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49, represents
certain employees in the public works and parks and recreation departments of the
City of Richfield, and
~lciEREAS, discussions between the Metropolitan Area Management Association
and Local 49 have been underway since July 16, 1969; and did involve the services
of the State Office of Mediation Services, and
VV~iEREAS, the Metropolitan Area Management Association and the Local 49
negotiating committee did agree on a 1970 settlement which has been approved and
is in effect in a number of participating communities, and
iEREAS, the Metropolitan Area Management Association has recommended to
all of the communities that it represents that the agreed upon settlement be implemented
in the remaining communities which it represents;
NO~I1T, THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Richfield
that it is the intent of the city council to provide for the following: '
1. A $60.00 per month across the board increase for all members
of Local 49 to be effective on the first day of the pay period
closest to January 1, 1970, which is December 29, 1969.
2. Payment of the employees° share of the health insurance
premium in addition to the $60 , 00 per month wage increase ,
3. Agreement with the concept of having the Metropolitan Area
Management Association hold a series of joint meetings with
the Local 49 negotiating committee for the purpose of reviewing
wages and classifications for utilities and park departments
and for the purpose of reviewing overtime policies in municipal
employment .
Passed by the city council of the City of Richfield this 9th day of March, 1970.
