RESOLUTION DIRECTING CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST STATE HIGHWAY
' `' DEPARTMENT ~TO IN'STALL SAFETY RAILINGS .
WHEREAS, the construction of Minnesota State Highway 36 divided the area served
by East School, and
WHEREAS, all of the pedestrian traffic going to and from East School in New
Ford Town area of Richfield must cross the overhead bridge at the intersd~.t~.on of
66th Street and Highway 36, and
WHEREAS, many elementary school children are required to walk to .and from .school
across such bridge, and
WHEREAS, the bridge in its present design is extremely dangerous for some children

to cross, particularly during the winter months.
NOTd, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minn-
esota, as follows:
The city manager is hereby authors zed and directed to present to the Minnesota
Highway Department a request to construct a chain link guard fence on the bridge rail-
ings on the overhead bridge at the intersection of 66th Street and Highway 36 so as
to eliminate the hazard to pedestrians created by the construction of such bridge.
Passed by the city council of the City of Richfield this 9th day of March, 1970.
