RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE
RICHFIELD YOUTH COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richfield has established the Richfield
Youth Commission to advise the City Council concerning provisions for youth activities
and facilities for such activities; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has charged the Youth Commission with the specific re-
sponsibility to: "Study and advise the City Council on the desirability and feasibility
of developing a Youth Council somewhat similar to that established by the City of Bloom-
ington and...the recreational and vocational needs for all junior high and high school
age young people for activities, programs or facilities;" and
WHEREAS, The Youth Commission has studied the possibility of a Youth Council of
Richfield, has determined the function of such an organization, has determined the
composition of the organization and has since. made these recommendations to the City
Council for implementation, to which the City Council has acted favorably;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHFIELD in
regular meeting assembled to declare as a statement of policy the fallowing:
Statement of Policy
IT IS HEREBY declared to be the policy of the City of Richfield,
Minnesota: To officially recognize and support the creation and
.continuance of the Richfield Youth,~Council (which will provide
social and recreational service for, and also civic experience
and community service by, Richfield youth), as being a mayor and
duly elected representative voice of Richfield youth; to endeavor
to provide City funding and facility considerations for use by the
Richfield Youth Council through appropriate agents and under proper
supervision; to also endeavor to provide necessary City staff and
specialty advisor support for the Youth Council; and finally to
encourage employment of active community and youth service parti-
cipants of the Richfield Youth Council, both within and without the
City government of Richfield.
