RESOLUTION N0. 4236
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST THE
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL TO MAKE A TRAFI'IC IMPACT STUDY IN
THE AREA GENERALLY BOUNDED BY W. 84TH STREET, 35W, THE
CROSSTOWN, AND EAST BUSH LAKE ROAD.
WHEREAS, the City of Bloomington has prepared the "Northwest Area Plan" and
the Village of Edina, the "Southeast Edina Development Plan" in anticipation of
substantial new development in those areas,. and
WHEREAS, the increase in traffic generated by such development will have a
definite imgsact on Richfield's traffic circulation patterns, and
WHEREAS, the anticipated new development and the concurrent increase in
traffic will not only affect the immediate communities of Richfield, Bloomington
and Edina individually but will have a regional affect on all three of these
communities and perhaps others, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council was created by the State of Minnesota as
an administrative agency to coordinate the planning development of a metropolitan
area, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council is authorized by law to study the feasibility
of a program relating to transportation and other subjects of concern to the people
of the metropolit'hn area.
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Richfield Citv Council authorize the
City Manager to request that the Metropolitan Cs~uncil,in cooperation with thF, -,_
planning staff of each commmunity i*~volved.. conduct such a study of the inter
community area generally bounded _by West _84th Street, I=:'~5~d;''Ca So-~An H",` 62~~~and
East Bush Lake Road.. ..
