R~dSOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION UNDD`R LAND AND
WATF.~R CONSDftV1~TI0N ACT TO AID WOOD LAKE' DEVFILOPME~TT
WH~'R~JAS ~ the City of Richfield proposes to develop W® Lake and. surround~.rag
area fox park and recreation purposes; and
WT~aiEAS~ the City of Richfield has obtained professional reports on the
development of Wood Lake and the findings and permission of the Commissioner of
Gonservation of the State of Minnesota regarding the proposed Wood Lake development;.
and
WkTFJ.REAS~ such reports and findings indicate the proposed development of Wood
Lake is feasible and would best serve the public interest; arid.
WHFlRE'A,SS it appears that the development of Wood Lake would benefit the City
of Richfi,eld9 the surrouncling communities and Hennepin County by serving a currently
unfilled need for passive recreation facilities; and
WHF~E:ASe the City of Rdchfield has expend®d and is willing to expend substantial
sums of money for the developmrsn.t of Wood Lak® if assisting funds can be obtained
from county state and federal sources; and
W,ERs`RE'AS~ the County of Hennepin obligated substantial funds to ai.d i.~ the
development of Wood Lake contingent upon application by the City of Richf~,eld-for
funds from other sources; and
WH~F~AS~ the City of Richfield cannot undertake the Wood Lake project without
financial assistance; and
~JAS~ this Council believes the Wood Lake project meets the priority and
public interest standards established under the Land and Water Conservation Actg

The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare and present to the
State of Nlinnesota~ Department of Conservation9 a:pro~ect proposal and application for
financial assistanc® under the Land and Water Conservation Aot for the development of
Wood Lake in the City of Richfield together with each supporting data9 planes reports
an,d information as is necessarya
