RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION BY HLNNEPIN
COUNTY IN IMPROVA~~YT OF WOOD LAKE
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has for a number of years been acquiring land
around the shgre of Wood Lake in this city for possible future development as a park
and recreation area, and
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has obtained professional reports by hydrologists
and park and recreational planners on the possible development of this areal and
WHEREAS, such reports indicate tha. t tki+e development of this area as a lake and
recreation area is feas~.ble, and
WHEREAS, it appears-that if this area 3s developed as a lake and recreation area,
it would be of benefit to the county at-larg~~~as we~.l as the City of Richfield, and

WHEREAS, the finances of the City of Richfield, to develop this area along the
lines recommended in such professional studies, are 13.mited, and
WHEREAS, the County of Hennepin has established a fund for the development of
lakes which meet its criteria as being suitable for deve~,opment, and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of this council that S~Tood Lake would qualify under
the standards established by the county for the use of county funds in its dev®Iopment,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has expended, and in the future is willing to
expend substantial sums of money for the improvement of Wood Lake, and for its main-
tenants as a regional recreational area if substantial financial assistance can be
obtained from Hennepin County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R,E,SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, as
follows

to The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare and present
to the Board of Commissioners of Hennepin County9 an application for financial
participation by the County of Hennepin in the improvement of Wood Lakem
2® Such application. shall include. a statement as to the properties which must
be acc~,uired in order to undertake the development of that areas a specific proposal
of the lake area to be improved by dredg~.ng; a statement as to the manner in which
the adjacent shore line area would b® improved and used; plans for the location of
public parking areas in such area; a statement as to the policy of operation and
maintenance which the city would expect to apply, in the event such lake is developed
with the financial assistance of the county; and such other information as the City
Manager shall deem advisable o

a°epresentations to the -county with respect to such application as may be necessary
to provide the county with whatever information is desdo
