ITEM FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION:
Consider the adoption of a resolution determining the results of the City Primary Election on Tuesday,
August 13, 2024.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Primary Election was conducted on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in conjunction with the State Primary
Election. The City Primary Election included contests for the office of Council Member Ward One. The
"unofficial" results of the election are attached and any relevant updates will be provided at the City Council
meeting.
The Richfield City Charter states that the Council shall meet and canvass the election returns at the next regular
or Special Council meeting immediately following any regular, primary or special election, but in no event later
than the time prescribed by State law, and must make full declaration of the results as soon as possible, and file
a statement thereof with the City Clerk.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
By Motion: Approve the resolution determining the results of the City Primary Election on Tuesday,
August 13, 2024.

The City Charter provides that the City Council declare the results of the election.
Minnesota Statutes Chapter 205 governs the conduct of municipal elections.

The City Council must take action by August 16, 2024.

There is no financial impact.

RESOLUTION DETERMINING RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION OF
THE CITY OF RICHFIELD HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2024
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield that the Council,
having received and considered the tally of votes by the election judges of the Primary
Election held August 13, 2024, the results are determined to be as follows:

Total number of ballots cast by Richfield voters in this election: 5,258
