1962-2875r~~~ 1 1 J RESOLUTION NOe 28`75 RESOLUTION RELATING TO REAPPORTiONMENfi OF JAUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS Wl~REAS, the boundaries of the City of Minneapolis comprise a logical dividing line for County Commissioner Districts, and w'F3EREA5, the boundaries of County Commissioner Districts of Hennepin County have historically tended to follow boundary lines of the City of Minneapolis, and WHEREAS,. the administration of such matters as tax assessments, poor relief' nursing service, library and parks have been established in such a manner as to distinguish the City of Minneapolis from the balance of H®nnepin County, and Tt~REAS,. the suburban area of Hennepin County has historically been represented by its own Commissianer, and has a community of interests making it undesirable to combine areas of Minneapolis with suburban areas as Commissioner Districts, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Richfield as follows z le The council herewith records itself as favoring two commissioner districts within the City of Minneapolis and two commissioner districts outside the City of Minneapolis and election of the fifth commissioner on a countywide basis, assuming that any redistricting will provide for only five commissionerso 2e The Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to send certified copies of this resolution to all members of the Board of County Commissioners of Hennepin County prior to its meeting of November 8th, 1962, Passed by the Village Council of the Village of Richfield this 22nd day of October, 1962e ATTEST: ~~~~.~ ~ G Edward J, Mo a lark ~a to ey 0 son Mayor r Oe. a Krev en Hager
