ABSOLUTION FAVORING THE REMOVAL OF PERSONAL PROPBRTY TAX ON
HOUSEHOLD G00~
TNHBRBAS, the Minnesota State Legislature has recently enacted legislation
empowering the county commissioners of the various counties of the State
to remove or repeal the personal property tax now assessed and collected
on household goods in households and homes, which legislation is dis~re-
tionary with the respective boards of county commissioners, and
WHSRPA5, the board of county commissioners of Hennepin County is consider-
ing the removal or the repeal of such tax upon such personal property9 and
i~HBREAS, all of the work of assessing-such household goods and personal
property in the Village of Richfield for the year 1959 has now been com-
pleted and the cost of spreading and assessing such,personai property has
been incurred and must be paid for the year 1959, and
'I+~RBAS, the budget and levy of the Village of Richfield for the year
1960 has not yet been prepared,

1. That the Village of Richfield is in favor of the removal or
repeal of the personal property tax upon household goods and urges the
board of county commissioners of Hennepin County to pass and adopt the
necessary reso lution to that end,
2. That such removal or repeal of such tax should tarke effect
beginning`May 1, 1960, but that such tax due and payable in the year 1960
and assessed in the year 1959, should not be repealed.
