COUNTY.
t~REAS, the present Board of Commissioners of Hennepin County
consists of only five members, and
tai~EREAS, the Fif th Cammissione r District is the only district
providing representation for suburban Hennepin County on the Board
of County Commissioners and
~~JHEREAS, the tremendous population growth of the Hennepin
County suburban area has resulted in a lack of equal representation
for the residents of that area on the County Board, and
tdHEREAS, it is deemed desirable to expand the County Board
so as to secure more direct representation from the suburban area of
Hennepin County, and
j~1HEREAS, the members of the State Legislature from the 36th
Legislative District, representing suburban Hennepin County, have
proposed legislation which would provide for additional represent
ation from that area of Hennepin County outside the City of Minneapolis,
NOt~, THEREFORE, BL IT ZESOLVED by the Village C~ uncil of the
Village of i~ichf field, Hennepin County, Minnesota, that this Council
supports legislation which has as its purpose a larger Board of
Commissioners in Hennepin County with additional representation for
the area now included in the Fifth Commissioner District and urges
the enactment into law of legislation which would accomplish this
purpose.
BE IT FU~~THER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be sent
to each member of the Legislature from Hennepin County.
