X491 RESOLUTION RELATING ~'0 THE CASHING OF CHECKS ~~' THE MUNIC~f'AL LIQUOR STORE WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes,"Section 340.0?, subdivision 5, pro- vides in part that a municipal liquor store m~.y be operated by a muni- cipality ~~as the governing body thereof shall direct~- and WHEREAS, the Attorney General of the State s~f Minnesota on October 31, 195'7, ruled 'that the governing body of a municipality could authorize the ca$hing.c~f patrons checks, in connection with the oper- ation of a municipal ~.iquor store, and WHEREAS, the acceptance of checks for the payment of other ob- ligations to the~villagc is a well established practice. NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT RESOLVEII by the Vl.llage Council of the Village of Richfield as follows:: 1. The employees. of the municipal liquor-stores of the Village of Richfield are hereby authori1zed to accept such checks as they in their discret~.on, deem. to be rehiable in payment for merchandise pur- chased at the municipal liquor stores. 2. This authority shall be subject to such regulations as the Village Manager may prescribe to safeguard the village against the acceptance of checks which might not be genuine:. 3. This authority shall not extend to the cashing of checks for greater amounts than the amount of the purchase. being made by the patron so as to require the payment of cash to the patron in addition to mer- chandise.
