Wes, ~ December 28, 1953, the Village Council received bids on
voicing machines, and
Wf>Eft~S, ~iddendum No.. 1 to the specifications for the purchase of such
voting machines providing "Bidder shall state the loan charge or rentals if
any, which he will charge for the loan of the fourteen voting machines for use
in the 1954 primaries and elections and state the final date upon which the
Village may enter into contract on the same terms and the same price as the
original contract for the purchase of all or any part of the fourteen loaned
voting machines", and
W'KERE~S, the bid of the Shoup Voting Machine Corporation submitted on
Sept. 28, 1953, in response to said specifications provided as follows: "In
the event the Village determines that 36 machines is an insufficient number
with which to conduct Sts elections,. the company agrees that it wi]1 rent the
Villages for the 1954 elections, up to ].la. machines at One Hundred and Twent~r
five Dollars(~125.OQ) per machines, plus freight charges from Cantons Ohio*
If the Village due to continued growth, decides it needs the additional
machines, the125.00 rental charge will be credited to the purchase price
of the machines at the end of the rental period", and
WHERE9S, The Village Council of the Village of Richfield awarded the
contract to the Shoup Voting Machine Corporation in accordance with the terms
of said bids and
the Village Council thereafter made provisions for the rental

of eight voting machines pursuant to and in accordance with said contract and
~ bid, and
T+JIiERE@-S, it now appears that 36 votang machines is not a sufficient
number with which to conduct the elections of this Village.
NOW'THEREFORE BE 7T RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village
r of Richfield as follows:

if That it is hereby determined to exerci~.e the option of the Village
to purchase eight additional voting machines from the Shoup Vo#a.ng i~.chine
Corporation.
~~ 2. That such purchase shall be conditioned upon the provding of the
statutory bonds by the Shoup Voting Machine Corporation as respired by law
covering the eight additional voting machines.
3. That the Village Mayor, Manager, Finance Officer and ~.ttorney are

~ hereby authorized to do all things necessary to affect such a contract in
accordance with terms of this resolution.
