1954-3.32r- - ORDINANCE N0. 3.32 AN ORDINANCE ~ NG CERTAIN EQ~ NNTT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES VEFiIGLES, REQ The Village Council Qf the Village of Richfield do ordain as follows: Section 1, No person; firm or corporation shall engage in the pushing or towing o a mo or vehicle for hire in the Village of Richfield unless the. vehicle used in such pushing or~towing is equipped and the owner or operator thereof is in- swred as hereinafter specified. Section 2. The oraner or operator of such pushing or towing vehicle shall have pu~ic'~13.ability 3.nsurance covering the operation of each such vehicle for such activity, in at least the following atnountsa Injury or death of personsy X50,000 per person and X100,000 per accident. Lose or damage to property; X10,000. Deductible collision; X100.00 deductible covering vehicles in the custody and control of licensee. ° Section 3: Tech vehicle used in the pushing or towing of motor vehicles for _ .hire a a 1 be equipped as follpwss. With a crane or winch,. whether power or hand operated and a winch chain of 5/1(i~~ or larger with a minimum length of 25 feet or a cable of 3/8" or larger with a minimum length of 100 feet; or in the ~ event such vehicle is not so equipped, it shall be equipped with a tow bar. - Tach such vehicle shall be equipped w~.th fire extinguishers and flares; and with a flasher type red lamp visible from the rear only. Such equipment shall be in a state of good repair. Section 1~. The owner of any such vehicle to be used in the pushing or towing of mo or vehicles for hire sha71 register tY~ same with the Village of Richfield. Application for such registration shall be made in writing to the Village of Richfield and sha]1 state the name and address of the applicant, his place of business9 the size and wheel base of each vehicle to be used in such activity, the license number of each such vehicle and such other information as the Vil- . lag©~l~anager may reasonably require, including proof that such vehicl© is equipped and insured as hereinbefore provided. If it shall appear that such vehicle com- plies faith th© requf,remants of this ordinance the Villag© Manager shall register such vehicle and issue a registration number to~the applicant. Such registration shall be effective until December 31 of the year for which such registration is made, ar until the said vehicle shall no longer qualify under the terms of this ordinance, whichever is sooner. - Section 5. Registration of any such vehicle pursuant to the terms of this ordinance-shall entitle the owner there~htoleisP~g catered b~ thaei®illagelofan- nouncing that it is a registered towing , Richfield. No vehicle not so registered shall display or have displayed upon it any such statement.. The registration fee for each such vehicle shall be $1:00. Section 6. The name, business address and telephone number of the owner or operator of any vehicle so used shall be printed in clearly legible letters, at least three inches high on both doors of the cab of such vehicle. ii is I~ Page 2 - Ordinance No. 3.32 Section 7. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction therefor, be punished by a fine of not to exceed X100.00 or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days.
