AMENDMENT TO ORDINAICCE NO. 6.01
An Ordinance Amending Sections 23 and 24 of That Certain Ordinance
No. 6.01 of the city of Ri~hf field Entitled "An Ordinance to Promote
and Conserve Public Safety, Health, Peace, Convenience and Welfare
by Regulating the Operation of Vehicles and the Use of the Streets
of the Village, Prescribing Penalties for the Violation Thereof" „
Passed the 27th day of March 1944, as Subsequently Amended.
CITY OF RICHFIELD DOES ORDAIN:
Section 23, Subdivision 1 of Ordinance No. 6.01 of the City of Richfield entitled
"A n Ordinance to Promote and Conserve Public Safety,, Health, Peace, Convenience and UJel-
fare by Regulating the Operation of Vehicles and the Use of the Streets of the Village,
Prescribing Penalties for the Violation Thereof ", passed the 27th day of March 1944, as
subsequently amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
'°'1. No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle, whether attended
or unattended except when necessary to avoid conf lict with other traffic
or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic-control
device in any of the following places:
(a) On a sidewalk or boulevard between sidewalk and roadway.
(b) In front of a public or private driveway or alley or within five
feet of the intersection of any public or private driveway or alley with any
street or highway.
(c) Within an intersection.
(d) iNithin ten feet of a fire hydrant; provided that this does not
prevent the parking of taxicabs in taxicabs stands established by the city
council within ten feet in either direction of afire hydrant.
(e) On a crosswalk.
(f) Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.
(g) 'Within 30 feet upon the approach of any flashing school signal,
stop sign, traffic-control signal or school sign at the side of a roadway.
(h) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30'feet of
points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a
different length is indicated by signs or markings.
(i) Within a designated or marked bus stop.
(j) Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.

(k) t~Tithin 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and
on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within
75 feet of said entrance when properly sign posted.
(1) Along side or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when
such stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic.
(m) Along the curb side of street adjacent to any school property from
8:00 a.m. to 4::00 p.m. on days when school is in session.
(n) Upon any bridge or approa ch or other elevated structure upon a
street or highway or within a street or highway tunnel, except otherwise
provided by ordinance.
(o) No person shall move a vehicle not owned by such person into any
prohibited area or away from a curb or side of street such distance as is
unlawful.
(p) No person shall for camping purposes leave or park a house trailer
on or within the limits of any street or highway or on any street or highway
right of way except where signs are erected designating the place as a camp site.
(q) No person shall park so as to block afire escape or exit from any
building.
(r) At any place where temporary signs prohibit parking as long as
such signs are in place.
(s) No person shall stop or park a vehicle on a street or highway when
directed or ordered'to proceed by any peace officer invested by law with
authority to direct, control or regulate traffic.
(t) On any public street or highway, at the same location, for more
than 48 hours in succession.
(u) On any public property, including parks, playgrounds and school
grounds, except on areas thereon improved and marked for parking"
Section 24, Subdivision 8 thereof, is hereby amended to read as f ollow~::
"8. Washing, Greasing, Etc; No person shall wash, grease or repair such
vehicle upon a street or highway, nor on any public property such as parks,
playgrounds and school grounds, except when such repairs are necessary be-
cause of an emergency."
