September 22, 2009
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Goettel at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: Debbie Goettel, Mayor; Sue Sandahl; Pat Elliott; Fred Wroge; and Tom
Fitzhenry.
Staff Present: Steven Devich, City Manager; Mike Eastling, Public Works Director; Jim
Topitzhofer, Recreation Services Director; Chris Link, Street Maintenance
Supervisor; and Cheryl Krumholz, Recording Secretary.
Item # I PRESENTATION FROM YOUTH ACTION COUNCIL
Representatives from the Youth Action Council presented and discussed their video "SEE us,
HEAR us, ENGAGE us."
The City Council provided comments and ideas on finding a location for teens to gather in the
City and various possible funding options through grants.
Item #2 UPDATE REGARDING EMERALD ASH TREE BORER (COUNCIL MEMO NO. 152)
Street Maintenance Supervisor Link discussed a PowerPoint presentation regarding policy
direction on handling oak wilt and emerald ash borer impacts on Richfield's trees and potential
funding sources.
Council Member Sandahl stated the City's boulevard trees should be considered as an
infrastructure investment.
