RESOLUTION SUPPORTING. S.F._ 865 AND
H.F. 1381, IMPOSING A TAX ON RECEIPTS
FROM ON-SALE LIQUOR SALES TO OFFSET
GOVERNMENTAL COSTS OF CONTROLLING:
DRUNKEN DRIVING
WHEREAS, `legislation has been introduced in the Minnesota Legislature
known as S.F. 865 and H.F. 1381, and "
WHEREAS,. this legislation proposes to tax consumers of on°sale
alcoholic beverages an additional "nickel a drink," and
WHEREAS, revenues collected from this additional tax will be used to
reimburse governmental .jurisdictions for the costs"of providing drunken driving
control services , and
.WHEREAS, these revenues will also heap support expanded educational and
rehabilitation programs .for drunken drivers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE< IT RESOLVED by the" City Council of the City. of
Richfield that the-,city council does. support S.F. 865 and H.F. 138:1, and does urge
the Minnesota Legislature to adopt this legislation.
BE IT FURTHER STATED that the City Clerk. of the City of Richfield is hereby
directed to`provide a copy of this resolution to all. appropriate .legislators.
