RESOLUTION N0. 5901
RESOLUTION RELATING TO PROPOSED INCREASE
IN LEVY LIMIT BASE AND ESTABLISHING HEARING
DATE TO CONSIDER SUCH A PROPOSAL
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 275.52, Subdivision 5, provides
regulations and procedures for a city other than a city of the first class,
towns or counties not containing a first class city to make limited adjust-
menu in their levy limit base, and
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield as a second class city and operating
at its levy limit meets the criteria established in Minnesota Statutes
Section 275.52, Subdivision 5, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined necessary and expedient for the city
to protect its ,.revenue p-roducing capabilities for future years,. and
WHEREAS, this adjustment can be made only once by a municipality
and must occur prior to December 31, 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Richfield, as follows:
1. That, as authorized by Minnesota Statutes, Section
275.52, Subdivision 5, it is hereby proposed to levy
city taxes in 1978 in the amount which would be
permitted with a 10 percent increase in the city's
tax levy limit base.
2. That the city council does hereby schedule a public
hearing on this proposed increase at its regular
council meeting on June 12, 1978, at 7:00 p.m. in
the council chambers of city hall, 6700 Portland Avenue.
3. That. the City Clerk be directed to publish this resolution
in the city's official newspaper for four consecutive weeks
prior to that hearing.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Richfield, this 8th
