RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING HENNEPIN COUNTY TO PARTICIPATE
WITH EDINA AND RICHFIELD IN RESOLVING FLOODING PROBLEMS.
IN THE INTERSECTION OF 66TH STREET AND XERXES AVENUE
WHEREAS, 66th Street which runs through the City of Richfield
is a Hennepin County roadway, and
WHEREAS, the intersection of Xerxes Avenue and West 66th
Street borders the cities of Edina and Richf field, and
WHEREAS, this intersection and the adjacent area is subject
to flooding even during minimal rainstorms, and
WHEREAS, substantial investment would be necessary to solve
` this drainage problem and the area of land which would benefit from
such drainage improvements could not afford the necessary assessments
to construct said improvements, and
WHEREAS,. the overall public benefit is insuff icient to warrant
the cities of Richfield and Edina using general fund. support for
this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED- by the City Council of the City
of Richfield that it hereby requests that Hennepin County partici-
pate with the City of Edina and the City of Richfield to resolve
the drainage problems associated with this intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Richfield does request Hennepin County to consider .incorporating
drainage improvements for this intersection into an overall plan to
upgrade West 66th Street from Xerxes Avenue to France Avenue, and.
along the north side of the Southdale Shopping Center.
