RESOLUTION PETITIONING TO VACATE 69TH .STREET.
BETWEEN 20TH AVENUE AND 21ST AVENUE AND TO
VACATE THAT PORTION -0F 21ST AVENUE THAT.ABUTS
.THE AREA .KNOWN AS RICH ACRES PARK, AND: TO
REFER..SAID PETITIQN TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
FOR THEIR REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has long. pursued the posy-
ibility for the construction and operation of a municipal golf
course to be located on lands leased from the Metropolitan
Airports Commission ,.. and
tiVHEREAS, the planning and design of tY~e proposed municipal
golf course, an opportunity was presented for the expansion of-
-Rich Acres Park, and
WHEREAS, to allow for one .contiguous park. area and the
safety of the park users-, it has been determined desirable to
vacate 69th Street between ZOth Avenue and 21st Avenue and to
vacate that portion of 21st Avenue-that.abuts the area known as
Rich Acres Park, and
WI3EREAS, this potential park expansion has been: discussed
on several occasions by the city council, the Park and Recreation
Advisory .Commission, the Golf Course Citizen Committee, the city
staff and the Rich Acres neighborhood residents, and
WHEREAS, the above mentioned have generally appeared to favor
the expansion of the park area either through motions or
petitions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED-that the City Council of
the City of Richfield hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign the
petitions to begin the process for said street vacations and that
said petitions be directed to the Planning Commission for their
review and recommendation.
