RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE ISSUE OF PROVIDING
COMMUNICATIONS/DISPATCH SERVICES WITHIN HENNEPIN
COUNTY
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has reviewed and analyzed the
.draft report on Communication/Dispatch Services prepared by the
_:
Hennepin County staff, and
WHEREAS, the draft. report recommends that the "Hennepin County
Board of Commissioners should .establish a policy .that emergency
communications and dispatch is most appropriately a county function
and responsibility," and
WHEREAS, the County draft. report suggest that cities providing
their own communications/dispatch services should be taxed for the
- county provided system in addition to the costs of providing their
. ~:
,~. own system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by'the City Council of the City
of Richfield as follows
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Richfield appoints
Council Member Ivan Ludeman and City Manager Karl Nollenberaer
to participate on a committee to represent the city's interest in
this matter.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Richfield takes great
exception to the draft county report and requests the committee estab-
fished in Section 1 to prepare and present a Majority Report repres-
enting the 76 percent of the county's population serviced by cities
providing their own communications/dispatch service.
