45 ~~ s RESOLUTION N0. 7C~3 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NEW CONVENTION CENTER- BUT OPPOSING ONE PERCENT METROPOLITAN AREA SALES TAX TO HELP FUND PROPOSED CONVENTION CENTER WHEREAS, it is proposed to construct a new convention center in d©wntown Minneapolis to make the Twin Cities more competitive with other major national conventien sites; and, WHEREAS, the business the convention center would attract would benefit the metropolitan araa and the entire State of Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, the Minnesota Convention Facility Commission, app©inted by Governor Rudy Perpich, has recommended-that the construction costs of such a convention center be financed by a combination of state bonding and a one percent one-year metropolitan area sales tax. NOW,~THEREFORE, BE ZT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield that the City of Richfield supports the establishment of a convention center, but is mpp©sed t© the institution flf a ®ne percent, ®ne-year metr©politan area sales tax .to help fund this convention center..
