RESOLUTION NO. 6966
RESOLUTION DETERMINING
NEED FOR MEETING
WHEREAS, on November 6, 1984 a general municipal election
was held in the City of Richfield; and
GIHEREAS, Section 4.07 of the Richfield City Charter
requires that the City Council meet at a regular or special
meeting and canvass the election returns; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.07 of the Richfield City Charter
further provides that the canvass occur "in no event later
than the Monday. next following" such election; and- -
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 645.44, Subdivision
5 declares November 11 (or November 12 if November 11 falls
on a Sunday) to be a holiday on which no public business may
be transacted except in cases of necessity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Richfield that a meeting of the City Council on
Monday, November 12, to canvass the election returns is
deemed to be a necessity in order to comply with the time
limitation contained in the City Charter for canvassing of
the election returns.
Passed by the .:City Council of the City of Richfield, this 12th day of
