RESOLUTIONTHE COMMUNITY
PROJECT FUNDING (CPF) GRANTAPPLICATION FOR
PROJECT 1OFTHE I494: AIRPORTTOHIGHWAY 169 VISION
WHEREAS,MnDOT and localagency partners havebeen working towards
roadway improvements along the I-494 Corridorfrom the Airport to USHighway 169;and
WHEREAS,theelementsofthefirstproject(Project1)toimplementtheI494:
AirporttoHighway169VisionwereformallychosenbytheI494PolicyAdvisory
Committee in early 2021; and
WHEREAS,the funding solutionsarelargely inplace to construct Project1,
however, there remains a funding gap beforefull Project1 funding issecured;and
WHEREAS,CPFgrantsarespecificallytargetedtoshovel-readyprojectsin
support and will work to improve the lives of residents and business owners in the district;
and
WHEREAS,theidentifiedProject1willgreatlyimprovevehicularandpedestrian
safety,reduceinterstatecongestion,improvetheregionaltransitnetwork,fixstormwater
drainageissuestoresolvelocalizedfloodingandreducerun-offintoourwaterways,and
improve connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists over Highway 494; and
WHEREAS,thecountlessbenefitslistedabovewillbedirectlyexperiencedbythe
ndrdth
2, 3, and 5 Congressional Districts
aswellasindirectlybyconstituentsofeveryCongressionalDistrictin MinnesotaastheI-
494 corridor is ; and
WHEREAS,projectstakeholdershaveworkedextensivelythroughcommunity
outreachandengagementtoensurethatequityconsiderationsarefrontandcenterto
each aspect of the I494: Airport to Highway 169 Vision; and
WHEREAS,-
Povertyw/greaterthan50%peopleofcolorasdefined
bytheMetropolitanCouncil)bysafelyconnectingthemwithjobsandotheropportunities
oneithersideof494throughfreewayrampreconfigurationandimprovedpedestrian
amenities.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,thattheCityofRichfieldenthusiastically
expressesits supportfortheCPFgrantapplicationforProject1oftheI494:Airportto
Highway 169 Vision.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota this 13th day of April,
2021.
