03-23 Resolution No. 11835RESOLUTION NO. 11835 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE RICHFIELD ZONING CODE REGULATIONS RELATED TO THE SIZE OF GARAGES WITH ATTACHED ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS WHEREAS, the City has adopted the above -referenced amendment of the Richfield City Code; and WHEREAS, the verbatim text of the amendment is cumbersome, and the expense of publication of the complete text is not justified. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield that the following summary is hereby approved for official publication: SUMMARY PUBLICATION BILL NO. 2021-4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE RICHFIELD ZONING CODE REGULATIONS RELATED TO THE SIZE OF GARAGES WITH ATTACHED ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS This summary of the ordinance is published pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Richfield City Charter. This ordinance amends Zoning Code Section 514.05, Single Family Residential, and 518.05, Low -Density Single Family Residential. The approved ordinance allows for larger garages in cases where an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) is attached. The first 400 square feet of the ADU space can be deducted from the floor area limit of the garage structure, which is capped at 1,000 square feet. Residential lots will still need to meet the accessory structure floor area limit of 1,200 square feet (or 13% of the lot in cases where the lot is 15,000 square feet or more in area). Copies of the ordinance are available for public inspection in the City Clerk's office during normal business hours or upon request by calling the Department of Community Development at (612) 861-9760.
