RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
RICHFIELD/PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT AND RICHFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT
#280 TO APPROVE SCHOOL DISTRICT FUNDS TO PROVIDE TWO RICHFIELD
POLICE OFFICERS AS SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICERS AT THE RICHFIELD SENIOR
HIGH SCHOOL AND THE RICHFIELD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL, AND OTHER
SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT AS NECESSARY
WHEREAS, the Richfield Police Department has provided school liaison services to
the Richfield School District #280 since 1993; and,
WHEREAS, the 2005 - 2009 contract between the Richfield Police Department and
the Richfield School District #280 expired on June 30, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, a new four year contract has been agreed upon between the City of
Richfield and the Richfield School District #280; and,
WHEREAS, the new contract will call for the Richfield Police Department to provide
two police officers as juvenile liaison officers to the Richfield School District #280 from July
1, 2009 to June 30, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield, Public Safety Department is authorized to accept
funds for compensation for two police officers to serve as school liaison officers to the
Richfield School District #280.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Richfield enter into a
cooperative agreement with the Richfield School District #280, to provide school liaison
services. Steven Devich, Richfield City Manager, and Barry Fritz, Public Safety Director,
are hereby authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement the
project on behalf of the City of Richfield, Department of Public Safety.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota this 14th day of July,
2009.
