RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY/POLICE TO
ACCEPT GRANT MONIES FROM THE OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY IN THE AMOUNT OF
$94,100.00 OR A LESSER AMOUNT, AS AWARDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
SAFETY, TO FUND A VEHICLE FOR DISTRACTED DRIVING ENFORCEMENT
WHEREAS, Richfield Police Department has been approved by the Office of Traffic
Safety (OTS) to receive funds made through federal funding provided by the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); and
WHEREAS, Richfield is scheduled to be awarded $94,100.00 or a lesser amount as
awarded by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to be used as designated by the grant
agreement which mandates that the a vehicle dedicated to distracted driving enforcement, and
a joint powers agreement with multi-jurisdictions;
WHEREAS, Richfield has agreed that the Minnesota Department of Public Safety will
serve as the fiscal agent; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the agreement, squad operating costs per mile,
maintenance, will be covered by the Richfield Department Public Safety; and,
WHEREAS, Richfield Police has established an approved budget with the OTS for
$94,100.00 ora lessor amount for the distracted driving enforcement program; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Richfield, Public Safety
Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for
traffic safety enforcement projects during the period from January 20, 2020 to September 30,
2020.
