10-08 Resolution No. 11658 RESOLUTION NO. 11658 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTIFICATION OF UNPAID WATER, SANITARY SEWER, STORM WATER, AND STREET LIGHT CHARGES TO THE COUNTY AUDITOR TO BE COLLECTED WITH OTHER TAXES ON SAID PROPERTIES WHEREAS, Ordinance Code 705 establishes rules, rates, and charges for sanitary sewer service in the City of Richfield and provides that all delinquent accounts for sewer and water services may be certified against the properties served, including an added certification charge; and WHEREAS, Ordinance Code 715 establishes rules, rates, and charges for water service in the City of Richfield and provides that all delinquent accounts for water services may be certified against the properties served; and WHEREAS, Ordinance Code 720 establishes rules, rates, and charges for storm water service in the City of Richfield; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes section 444.075 provides that unpaid charges for water, sanitary sewer, and storm water services may be certified to the county auditor with taxes against the property served for collection as other taxes are collected; WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes section 429.101 provides that unpaid charges for the operation of street lights may be assessed against the property and collected in the same manner as other taxes; and WHEREAS, the certification list has been prepared specifying the amount that shall be certified against each particular property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota: 1. The total unpaid amount for water, sanitary sewer, storm water, and street light charges is $472,771.98. 2. A $50 certification charge shall be levied against each delinquent account, such charges totaling $39,350.00. 3. The above-described certification list will be spread over a period of one year at the rate of 8% per annum. 4. The total unpaid amount will be certified to the County Auditor for collection with other taxes on said properties. 5. A copy of the resolution shall be sent to the Hennepin County Auditor.
