09-10 Resolution No. 11647 RESOLUTION NO. 11647 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RICHFIELD TO ENTER INTO AMENDMENT #1 TO MNDOT PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT NO. 1030429 WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PURCHASE/STORAGE OF SALT UNTIL JUNE 30, 2022 WHEREAS, the Public Works Maintenance Facility has limited space for salt storage; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Cedar Avenue Truck Station is conveniently located next to the City of Richfield Maintenance Facility and has adequate storage space for both agencies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richfield authorized MnDOT Partnership Agreement No. 1030429 at the July 24, 2018 regular City Council meeting; and WHEREAS, the original contract provides that if the actual cost of the salt, including material handling fee and administrative costs, exceeds the estimated 3% annual increase, an amendment must be done; and WHEREAS, the original contract provides that any amendment to the agreement must be in writing and will not be effective until it has been executed and approved by the same parties, or their successors in office, who executed the original agreement; and WHEREAS, the cost of salt for 2020 including the material handling fee and administrative costs is expected to increase by 26% from $113,978.94 in 2019 to $143,879.62 in 2020, with 3% expected annual increases thereafter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Richfield hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Manager to enter into Amendment #1 to Partnership Agreement No. 1030429 between the City of Richfield and the Minnesota Department of Transportation for purchase/storage of salt until June 30, 2022.
