Swopnil Shrestha Jeff Wright Sarah Musgrave Mark Westergaard Carrie Chillman Logan Schultz Mike Koob-Public Safety Liaison Guests: Andrew Dilworth, Birgit Johnson, Steve LaVictoire, Jennifer Lewis, Margaret Schermin, Bonnie Swan Peterson; community observers. Meeting called to order by Chair Sara Gumke at 6:30PM. Agenda approved. Motion Westergaard/Second Schultz. > November minutes approved. Motion Westergaard/Second Eng. Open Public Comment. Bonnie Swan Peterson stated she was interested in observing the RHRC to learn more about what it is doing; Margaret Schermin stated that she was observing the RHRC as a former Richfield resident contemplating a return. Reports Chair's Report Introduction and welcome of new member, Sarah Musgrave. Reminder of March meeting changed to the 8th. Secretary's Report No report from the secretary. Vice Chair's Report No report from the Vice Chair. Liaison Reports City Liaison: No report. School Board: No report. City Council: No report. Committee Reports Naturalization event; (Swopnil, Mark, Debbie) Will be held on 2/21/17 at the high school at 9:30, approximately 200 new citizens will be naturalized; Swopnil will make introductions and choir will perform. Black Lives Matter resolution; (Chara, Jeff, Swopnil) no update. Islam 101 even; (Ben, Logan, Mark) currently deciding on venue. Unfinished Business Social media officer role; committee will meet later in February and topic will be revisited at next meeting. Reminders of upcoming events: Frank White book reading at Augsburg Park Library, Feb. 18th at 2:OOpm. Read -in at Augsburg Park Library, 4/24 from 4-8pm. Sabing Zimering's " Hiding in the Open: a Holocaust Memoir" will be read, a sign-up sheet will be emailed soon. No confirmation of Ms. Zimering's attendance but her daughter and granddaughter will be there. University of Minnesota's Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies forum at Augsburg Park Library, 4/26 from 6:30-8pm; graduate scholars present on how the media plays a role in the coverage of genocide and human atrocities. Irene Colston photography presentation at Augsburg Park Library, 4/27 from 2-4pm (The Other Voices of Auschwitz) Fred Amram speech at Augsburg Park Library, 4/29 from 1:30-3:OOpm ("We're in America Now: a Survivor's Story") Changes to by-laws needed: Treasurer role was eliminated. Secretary' attendance report and Vice Chair's inventory report due to City immediately after the final HRC meeting of the year, not in January. Will discuss further when changes are needed, Carrie will start document of proposed changes to by- laws. New Business/Announcements/Open Forum Women's History Month (March) No events scheduled at this time, Logan and Mark suggest speakers, they have ideas and will ask their contacts. Debbie announced Immigration Task Force Panel at Holy Angels for movie screening. Next meeting is Wednesday, March 8th, 2017. Motion for Adjournment. Motion Westergaard/Second Schultz.
