Monthly Meeting Minutes
January 6, 2015

1. Meeting called to order by Chair Sean Hayford O’leary at 6:32PM.
2. Approval of Agenda
a.) Debbie moved; Ranee seconded; unanimously approved
3. Approval of Minutes
i. Debbie moved; Mark seconded; unanimously approved
4. Reports
a.) Chair’s report: Sean reminded that commission that officer elections
would be held. Elections were held with the following results:
Chair: Mark Westergaard
Vice-chair: Debbie Eng
Treasurer: Jeff Wright
Secretary: Todd Chase
e.) Liaison reports-Jay reported that the term of his liaison replacement on
the commission will begin once he has a designated a deputy chief.
5. Unfinished Business
a.) Debbie updated the commission on the progress of Community
Conversation event to be held on January 17. The planning subcommittee for the
event will meet tonight after the commission meeting to make final arrangements
for the event.
6. New Business:
a.) Sean mentioned the Black Lives Matter protest that was recently held at
the Mall of America. The commission discussed if we should take any action such as
composing a letter to Bloomington city attorney, requesting that the city not
prosecute the protest’s organizers. It was decided that the commission write a
resolution that will reviewed at the February meeting.
b.) Amelia suggested that the commission ask the city to recognize
“Indigenous People’s Day”. The commission agreed with this proposal and a
resolution will be reviewed at or before the next meeting and ultimately presented
to the Richfield City Council
