1. Meeting called to order by Chair Sean Hayford Oleary at 6:30PM.
2. Approval of Agenda
a.) Debbie moved; Mark seconded; Unanimously approved.
3. Approval of Minutes
i. Mark moved; Ranee seconded; Unanimously approved.
4. Guest Speaker: Madeline Lohman with the Advocates for Human Rights
spoke to the commission about the prospect of working with their
organization on certain projects such as our upcoming community
conversation event.
5. Reports
a.) Chair’s report: Sean reminded the commission that elections for officers
are coming up at the next meeting on January 6.
b.) Vice Chair’s report: Debbie noted an article in the Richfield Sun-Current
on a new policy in the school district concerning transgender student athletes.
c.) Treasurer reported there is a $156.00 account balance
e.) Liaison reports-Jay introduced his replacement on the commission, Officer
Michael Koob. This was Jay’s last meeting as Human Rights Commission staff
liaison.
5. Unfinished Business
a.) The Commission discussed the upcoming Community Conversation event
and decided to change the date of the event to January 17 to allow us more time to
prepare. The Community Conversation subcommittee will meet immediately
following tonight’s regular commission meeting
6. New Business:
a.) Sean suggested moving the discussion of Indigenous People’s Day to the
January 6th meeting
7. Next meeting: January 6, 2015, 6:30PM
