Minutes 08-2013Richfield Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes August 13, 2013 6:30pm City Hall 1. Attendance a. Teresa Kruse (substitute chair) b. Jeff Wright c. Sean Hayford Oleary d. Debbie Eng e. Philip Lowe f. Elizabeth (Morrissey) Wendt (substitute secretary) g. Ranee Skinner 2. Welcome Everyone No Guest Speaker 3. Reports: No Chair Report Commissioner Reports – Elizabeth – Mother Baby Fair (1) Unanimously approved to donate $25 for a sign to post the day of the event (2) Nancy and Elizabeth will volunteer to be at the event and help Molly (3) Where to post fliers for the event: laundry places, WIC headquarters, churches, cork boards at coffee shops and grocery stores, let Bloomington Public Health know, let the Edina and Bloomington Human Rights Commissions know a. Treasurer: $311 - $25 we are donating to the Mother Baby Fair + $14.93 in gift cards from Cub/Rainbow. b. No Liaison(s) report 4. Old Business: Recap on Community Conversation – Debbie Unanimously approved the creation of a subcommittee to plan next steps. Deb will chair the committee unless someone else volunteers and Jeff is a member. Others are welcomed to join. Elizabeth will get an attorney to come discuss basic landlord-tenant law with the Commission Elizabeth also hopes to spear head our next housing workshop to take place in Feb. or March. Discussed working with the High School to plan a college fair for those who were born in households where English is the second language. Members of the Commission will meet with Sara and Maria RE the parent group discussed at the Community Conversation event. 5. Looking Ahead: Ranee is still seeking volunteers to help with the weekly Science class for 4th to 7th graders Philip would like the Commission to look into Adults with Aspergers. He will see if he can find someone to address the Commission on the topic. 6. Next meeting – September 3, 2013 7. Adjournment
