Minutes 03-2013 Richfield Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes March 5, 2013 6:30pm City Hall 1. Call to Order 6:32pm and Attendance  Nancy Roberts  Sean O’Leary  Todd Chase  Pat Elliott  Jay Henthorne  Debbie Eng 2. Welcome Everyone 3. Reports:  Chairs Report- A. Amy Dusek contacted Nancy to see if any commission members are interested in participating in the Unity in the Community Planning committee. The event will be th held on May 16 at Veterans Park. Nancy and Todd expressed an interest in participating. Commissioners are asked to email Nancy within the next few days if they are interested. Commissioners also discussed having an information table at the event as they have had in previous years. B. Julie Bagby will no longer be a member of the RHRC. C. An annual meeting with the City Council will be set in the near future. RHRC will prepare a written brief for the council and will provide an update of commission activities at a council meeting. To be discussed in more detail at the April RHRC meeting.  Commissioner Reports- LMHRC Special Member Meeting update postponed to April meeting.  Treasurer Report- $311  Liaison(s) Report- Pat reported that the City Council discussed having a stipend available to commissions to provide funds for commission activities. No Guest Speakers or individuals at March 5, 2013 meeting 4. Old Business:  Amy Dusek provided Jay with a name of a school counselor at the Richfield High School who may assist in contacting a youth liaison for RHRC. Debbie also has information regarding a RHS youth organization to contact regarding youth representation. Debbie will talk with David regarding following up on these contacts.  Amy Dusek is working with someone on the translating the RHRC brochures into Spanish. 5. Looking Ahead:  Creating a RHRC display board for future events was discussed briefly. Nancy and Todd have some commission photos from previous events which may be used. Jay will be checking to see if the commission could use one of Public Safety’s display boards.  Discussion of future forums was postponed until April meeting.  The One Voice Minnesota Monitoring Project sponsored by The Advocates for Human Rights was discussed and an information handout was provided. Sean and Debbie will th attend a March 7 training to obtain additional information. Other commission members are invited and will be sent information regarding the training. Project and possible RHRC involvement will be discussed at the April meeting.  Next meeting is April 2, 2013. Debbie will take minutes for Teresa. 6. Adjournment – 7:00pm
