Discussion Items J
Nicollet Park Improvements
Topitzhofer and Link relayed suggestions from neighbors of Nicollet Park regarding ideas for improvements. Topitzhofer said
that the play equipment is scheduled for replacement in 2019, so there might be opportunities for other improvements. Link said
that neighbors have asked about cracked bituminous trail, unused tennis court, volleyball court, and ballfield, poor condition of
the asphalt basketball court, etc. Rudolph asked if there's room for a soccer field. Link said that a small soccer field may fit.
Flake said that the swings could be moved to be closer to the other play equipment. Topitzhofer said that he will meet with a few
neighbors to ask about usage of some of the facilities, especially the tennis court. Felgate asked if there are picnic facilities at
the park; Link said that there is not a good picnic area. Soto said that the basketball court gets good use, along with a few of the
picnic tables. Wendt asked if the path near the volleyball court be moved to the west if the court was removed. Rudolph asked
about space for lawn games. Link said that concrete game amenities are available, like ping pong tables and bags boards.
Topitzhofer said that he will explore new ideas for the park after talking with neighbors, then bringing the topic back to the CSC.
