Subject: Housing Program Activities and Future
Housing Assistance for the Elderly
The Housing and Redevelopment Authority was established
in 1974. Two issues provided an impetus for its organization:
the need of the low income and elderly for housing assistance
and the deteriorating conditions within the prime commercial
area of Richfield - the L/H/N.
Recently, HRA Commissioners were provided with two reports
which dealt with housing. These reports include the program
goals and a description of each program, as well as the number
of program units and dollars expended. The reports presen~
the future activities of the Housing Programs as well as a dis-
cussion related to providing additional housing assistance for
the elderly citizens of Richfield. It identifies the constraints
and opportunities within which additional housing may be provided.
This information is intended to assist the HRA in developing
future policies for meeting the housing needs of our citizens.
