Subject: Consideration of Planning Goals and Objectives for
Commercial Improvement Area
The purpose of the January 28, 1975 joint meeting. of the Housing Redevelopment
Authority and the Planning Commission is to consider planning goals and objectives
for the Lyndale/Hub/Nicollet commercial improvement area.. The proposed goals .
and objectives will be presented by Mr. Ralph Bruins, chairman of the study. Comm-
ittee which developed the proposals. A copy of the proposal, together with a cover
letter from the .chairman of the full committee, is attached.
• Merchants, landowners and nearby residents are represented on the commercial
improvement committee. In addition the committee invited-.750 nearby residents to
participate in a meeting at which time the proposed goals and objectives were dis-
cussed. Residents were invited to react to proposals and make suggestions con-
cerning the goats and objectives.
The next step in this commercial area study should be the adoption of goals
and objectives by the HRA and city council. This action .will complete Phase I of
the study. It would then be proper for the city council to authorize Bather-Ringrose-
Wolsfeld to initiate Phase II of the contract which involves the development of al-
ternate plans the consequences of the various alternatives.
