Issue Statement:
Update and discussion of Bloomington/Richfield joint Airport
Adequacy Study with Bob Mendelsohn.
Background•
Bloomington and Richfield have commissioned an airport adequacy
study because of their common concern for the future of MSP
Airport at its present location. Bob Mendelsohn of Mendelsohn
Associates in Washington, D.C., and Walt Gillfillan of Walter E.
Gillfillan and Associates in Kensington, CA, were hired to
coordinate the study.
Mr. Mendelsohn has retained a core group of experts to address
specific areas of concern:

and Costs
Political Aspects
Financial Feasibility
Noise Impacts
Airport/Airspace
Capacity
Lead Firm
EDAW, Inc.,
Dr. Steve Fuller, Principal
Mendelsohn Associates,
Bob Mendelsohn, President
A.J. Parry Associates,
A.J. Parry, President
Mestre Greve Associates,
Paul Dunholter, Principal
Robert L. Collette
Each have made presentations to the two cities' staff. The next
steps are to work on a political strategy and hold an Interactive
Technical Session, which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18,
1989.
Recommended Motion:
Staff recommends having Mr. Mendelsohn provide an update of the
joint study at the Study Session, and for council to direct
questions about the study to him at that time.
Alternative Recommendation:
None.
Discussion/Decision Mode:
Bob Mendelsohn will be at the Council Study Session at 5:30 PM on
Monday, October 9, 1989.
