Issue Statement:
Second reconvening of the 1995 Board of Equalization.
Background:
On May 8, 1995 the City of Richfield reconvened the 1995 Board of Equalization. The
Board considered nine cases deferred from the May 1 Board of Equalization meeting and
readjusted one additional property from the May 1 meeting because of an error discovered
by the County Assessor's office. In addition to the cases considered from the May 1
Board meeting, one additional appellant appeared before the Board on May 8 seeking an
adjustment to their property value. Since there was no time to prepare for this unforeseen
appeal, the Board voted to reconvene the Board of Equalization on May 15, 1995 at 5:45
p.m. for the sole purpose of considering the one appeal involving the property located at
6945 Columbus Avenue. The continuance was provided to give the appellant and staff full
opportunity to prepare data on this property before Board action.
Recommended Motion:
Reconvene the Board of Equalization at 5:45 p.m. on May 15, 1995 and take action on the
property located at 6945 Columbus Avenue.
Basis of Recommendation:
1. Reconvening of the .Board has been scheduled publicly at the May 8 meeting.
2. Information needed for the Board to make a determination of the remaining appeal will
be available at or prior to the reconvened hearing date.
3. The Board of Equalization must conclude its business within 20 days of May 1, 1995.
Alternative Recommendation:
1. None.
Discussion/Decision Mode:
It would be desirable to conclude the proceedings of the Board of Equalization on May 15,
1995.
