RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RICHFIELD AS A SAFE, WELCOMING, EQUITABLE,
AND INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, this November, 2016, we witnessed the end of the most divisive
general election in our Country's history. As (the Richfield City Council, the Richfield
Human Rights Commission, etc.), we recognize that we have tremendous responsibilities
to the people we represent and serve; and
WHEREAS, with this resolution we affirm the following commitments to our
residents:
• We believe in and stand for values of inclusion, equity, and justice. We
condemn islamophobia, racism, sexism, xenophobia or hate in rhetoric or
action.
• We welcome all people and recognize the rights of individuals to live their
lives with dignity, free of discrimination and targeting because of their faith,
race, national origin, disability or immigration status.
• We believe in the public sector for the public good; advancing racial equity
and inclusion is critical to the success of our communities and our nation;
and
WHEREAS, the Richfield Human Rights Commission requests all the Richfield City
Council Members sign the resolution; and
WHEREAS, there is much work to do in the years ahead.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we are ready to work together with
partners, staff, and residents to create a safe, welcoming, equitable, and inclusive
community for everyone.
