CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION DETERMINING RESULTS OF CITY GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1996 COUNCIL LETTER NO. 329 ADJOURNMENT Auxiliary aids for individuals with disabilities are available upon request. CITY OF RICHFIELD, MINNESOTA Council Letter No. 329 Agenda November 7, 1996 Issue Statement: Consideration of a resolution determining results of the City General Election held on Tuesday, November 5, 1996. Background: The City General Election was conducted on Tuesday, November 5, 1996 on the General Election ballot. The following City of Richfield offices were on the ballot: Council Member Ward 1 Council Member Ward 2 Council Member Ward 3 Richfield City Charter Section 4.07 states that: "The council shall meet and canvass the election returns at the next regular or special council meeting immediately following any regular, primary or special election but in no event later than the Monday next following, and shall make full declaration of the results as soon as possible, and file a statement thereof with the City Clerk." A resolution containing the results of the November 5, 1996 election will be presented to the City Council at the November 7, 1996 Special City Council meeting. Recommended Motion: Approve the resolution determining the results of the City General Election held on Tuesday, November 5, 1996. Basis for Recommendation: 1. The election judges have certified the returns of the election. 2. The City Charter provides that the City Council declare the results of the election. 3. A Special City Council meeting has been scheduled to canvass the election results. Alternative Recommendation: None.
