REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FROM CANDIDATES FOR CITY MANAGER POSITION WITH ASSISTANCE FROM EXECUTIVE RECRUITING FIRM, THE PAR GROUP COUNCIL LETTER NO. 166 ADJOURNMENT Auxiliary aids for individuals with disabilities are available upon request. Requests must be made at least 96 hours in advance to the Administrative Services Director at 861-9702. n CITY OF RICHFIELD, MINNESOTA Council Letter No. 166 Agenda July 29, 1999 Issue Statement: Review and discussion of applications received from candidates for the City Manager position. Background: A Special City Council meeting is scheduled to review and discuss applications received for the City Manager position. The executive recruiting firm, The PAR Group, will also be in attendance to assist in this review. The City Council will select from these applications those candidates to be invited to Richfield for an interview in August. This special-meeting is open to the public. However, the City Attorney-has-provided the- Council with guidance pertaining to what information regarding the candidate materials may or may not be permitted to be discussed based upon provisions of the Minnesota Open Meeting Law and the Minnesota Data Practices Act. Because much of the information that the Council will review is classified as private, Council Members must take precautions to ensure that the information does not become available to unauthorized persons. To that end, the candidate information packages should be returned to the Acting City Manager at the conclusion of the July 29 meeting. New information packets regarding the finalist candidates to be interviewed will be assembled by The PAR Group and forwarded to Council Members. Recommended Motion: Review and discuss the applications received for the City Manager position Basis of Recommendation: 1. The PAR Group has screened the applications received for the City Manager position. 2. The -PAR Group has provided Council with the applications that-fit the position profile previously approved. 3. The City Attorney has provided guidance on the procedure for discussion of private information. 4. Reviewing the City Manager applications at this time maintains the recruitment schedule. 5. Those candidates selected to be interviewed will be invited to Richfield in August. Alternative Recommendation: 1. Defer this review and discussion to another Councif meeting.
