AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
SUBSECTIONS 420.20 and 925.01 OF THE RICHFIELD CITY CODE
RELATING TO REGULATION OF PRIVATE SWIMMING POOLS
THE CITY OF RICHFIELD DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Subsection 420.20 of the Richfield City Code is amended to read as
follows:
420:20 General.requirements.
(a) All outdoor swimming pools existing and .hereafter constructed
must be completely .enclosed by anon-climbable fence or wall. All
~e openings or points of entry into the pool area enclosure s#al1 must
be equipped with gates. The fence and gates s must be at least o ru
feet in height and s#atl must be constructed of a minimum number 11
gauge woven wire mesh corrosion-resistant material or other materials
approved by the building official. All gates must be equipped with '
self-closing and self-latching devices placed at trop of the gate or
otherwise inaccessible to small children. All fence posts must be
decay or corrosion-resistant. The opening between the bottom o the
fence and the ground or other surface a#a1=1 must be not more than four
inches.
(b) Swimmina pools must be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition
(c) {~} No person owning or operating an outdoor swimming pool s~
m~a use, operate, or allow the use of such swimming pool unless se&~
the pool complies with this section.
Sec. 2. Subsection 925.01, subdivision 4, clause (m) of the Richfield City Code,
relating to public nuisances affecting peace and safety, is amended to read as follows:

Sec. 3. This ordinance shall be effective in accordance with Section 3.09 of the
Richfield City Charter.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
SUBSECTIONS 420.20 and 925.01 OFTHE
RICHFIELD CITY CODE
RELATING TO REGULATION OF
PRIVATE SWIMMING POOLS
On October 28, 2008, the Richfield City Council adopted
an ordinance designated as Bill No. 2008-21, the title of
which is stated above. This summary of the ordinance is
published pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Richfield City
Charter.
The ordinance requires that swimming pools be main-
tained in a clean and sanitary condition and in good re-
pair. The ordinance also clarifies that an unsecured, un-
used and non-maintained swimming pool that constitutes
a hazard is a public nuisance.
Copies of the ordinance are available for public inspection
in the office of the City Clerk during normal business hours
or upon request by calling 612-861-9800 of the Public
Safety Department.
