RESOLUTION NO. 8229
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO UPGRADE TRAFFIC SIGNALS
ALONG 1-494
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield wishes to join with the Minnesota
Department of Transportation to upgrade traffic signals and improve signal
coordination along the 1-494 corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Richfield, Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the City enter into an agreement with the State of Minnesota,
Department of Transportation for the following purposes, to wit:
To remove the existing traffic control signals and install new traffic control
signals with street lights, emergency vehicle pre-emption, interconnect and signing
on Trunk Highway No. 494 North and South Ramps at Lyndale Avenue South and
at County State Aid Highway No. 52 (Nicollet Avenue South); and revise the existing
traffic control signals with street lights, emergencyvehicle pre-emption, interconnect
and signing on Trunk Highway No. 494 North and South Ramps at County State Aid
Highway No. 35 (Portland Avenue South) and at 12th Avenue South in accordance
with the terms and conditions set forth and contained in Agreement No. 73027, a
copy of which was before the Council.
2. That the City of Richfield is authorized to use its Municipal State Aid
Streets funds to contribute its five percent share of the cost of the proposed
improvements on Lyndale Avenue and 12th Avenue at the 1-494 North Ramps.
3. And that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized to execute
such agreement, and thereby assume for and on behalf of the City all of the
contractual obligations contained therein.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield this 13th day of February,
