RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RICHFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS
DISTRICT 280 TECHNOLOGY LEVY
WHEREAS, the capital project levy dedicated to technology originally approved
by voters in 2003 is expiring; and
WHEREAS, the 21st Century learning environment requires schools to
incorporate a broad range of technology so students can achieve the skills necessary
for success in the digital age; and
WHEREAS, a successful passage of the capital project levy authorizations will
enable the district to maintain and enhance the quality of equipment and training
available to students and staff; and
WHEREAS, successful passage of both levy authorizations will help support and
challenge Richfield students and increase student achievement consistent with
community expectations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is open to and supportive of all avenues of
cooperation and collaboration with the Richfield schools; and
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the necessity of a strong school
system in order to attract and keep families thereby assuring the future of the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Richfield City Council supports
both the November 5, 2013 capital projects levy referenda for Richfield School District
280 and encourages residents to vote yes on both ballot questions.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota this 8th day of
October, 2013.
